The objective of this paper is to clarify the processes and challenges involved in writing a user-manual for Moodle workshop modules which are one form of LMS. Moodles offer multiple functions but they are complicated to operate and users are unable to master all of them. Furthermore, little progress has been made in writing manuals for workshop modules and this is an obstacle to encouraging more users. This paper introduces the setup steps for workshop modules, clarifies the functions of workshop modules, and highlights areas of difficulty. Configuring workshop modules for anonymization, students’ dissatisfaction with the grade assessment settings, and the validity of appraisal by students, are indicated as three problems facing workshop modules.
