This paper is the report of the research trip to South-East Asian countries organized by JICA. Purpose of this trip is to obtain information about current situations and problems of fisheries industry and administration in Vietnam and Thailand and also figure out the needs of the training programs in Japan, including training course given by National Fisheries University. After field observation and interview in Vietnam as one of those countries, we found some critical problems of fishery industry in this country. First one is that there are few human resource who have acquired enough techniques and skills in the field of fish distribution, processing, cold storage, marketing and aquaculture. Second one is that collecting fishery data system have not been established yet. Third one is that there is absence of cooperation between fisheries cooperatives and fisheries administration. Taking into account of the result of this research, we should instruct JICA trainees about good practice of strong relationship between fisheries cooperatives and fisheries administration in Japan in the next training program at NFU.
