生物多様性保全の大切さを理解することは大人でも難しいと言われている。本論文では、比較的年齢の低い子どもたちに、生物多様性に関する環境教育をどのように行えばよいのかについて考察した。子どもたちの心に生物多様性保全のための内発的動機を育てる必要性から、理屈抜きで楽しめて、なおかつ自発的に関われる自然や生きものたちとの触れあい体験の機会をできる限りたくさん提供することが最優先事項であることを述べた。
