United States conducted a mass media research in the U.S. military administrated Okinawa in 1957.Executive Office of the President coordinated a psychological operation for the Okinawan people and United States Information Agency designed the original research plan. Based on the U.S. national archives, the paper concludes that Eisenhower administration needed to know the mass media situation and the local audiences to coordinate a strategic public relations plan with the Japanese government and social science professionals.
