本論文では，山口県における留学生が県内で就職するためにはどのような支援が必要なのかを明らかにするために，県内の留学生に対してアンケート調査を行った。約６割の留学生が日本で就職を希望していることが明らかになったものの，山口県で就職を希望する者は非常に少なく，東京，大阪，名古屋などの大都市，あるいは福岡，広島などの近くの都市を希望している者が半数以上を占めていることが示された。また，留学生は山口県に就職したい企業がないことや，留学生専用のサービスがないことという理由で大学や県の就職支援サービスを利用しない者がいることが明らかになった。さらに，インターンシップに参加した留学生は半数以下と日本人学生に比べ非常に少ないことも明らかなった。留学生の半数を占める中国人とその他の留学生に分けて分析したところ，中国人留学生は他の留学生より日本語能力が高く，互いに就職支援を行うネットワークが確立しているものの，他の留学生と同様に，他の社員とコミュニケーションがうまくできるか，日本語が通用するかといった不安を抱えていることも示された。これらの点を踏まえて，留学生を支援し，山口県での就職を促進させていく必要があろう。
In this paper, we conducted a questionnaire survey for international students in Yamaguchi Prefecture to clarify what kind of supports are needed for them to find a job in the prefecture. Although approximately 60% of the international students eager to obtain a job in Japan, a few want to find a job in Yamaguchi, but in large cities such as Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya, or in nearby cities such as Fukuoka and Hiroshima. In addition, some of them do not use the employment support provided by their university or government because there is no interesting company in Yamaguchi or no specialized service for international students. Furthermore, the number of international students who participated in internship was less than half, which is very small compared to Japanese students. Chinese students have higher Japanese proficiency than other international students, and have established a network to help each other finding a job, yet similar to other international students, they are worried whether they could communicate well with other colleagues and speak Japanese well. Based on these results, it will be necessary to support them to promote employment in Yamaguchi.
