The foreign language program at Yamaguchi Prefectural University has put emphasis on developing students’ “Four-Skills + α” in foreign languages. It means acquiring not only four skills, speaking, listening, writing and reading, but also communication skills including presentation skills as “+a”. In addition to “Four-Skills + α”, the students’ learning autonomy and independent study are considered as an important factor for the language learning.
