The National Institute of Technology, Oshima College, is currently engaged in life saving education using “PWC rescue” and is the first in Japan to do so. In 2011, the student’s PWC rescue team was established, and because of its introduction, the team has collaborated with organizations in the region including the government office, fire department, and elementary and junior high schools. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Oshima College and Yamaguchi prefecture fire school began to collaborate. As a result, PWC rescue was introduced to the educational curriculum as a water rescue course for the first time in Japan. In this way, it is extremely important that collaboration with colleges and regional organizations takes place regarding PWC rescue.
