In this study, surveys were conducted in 38 medical facilities in Yamaguchi Prefecture to examine factors that are necessary for nutritional care in wards. Furthermore, surveys were conducted among nurses and registered dietitians who play a central role in nutrition management in the wards. Questionnaires were also conducted on grasping the actual condition of nutrition management and the current state of interdisciplinary collaboration. Since nutrition care in wards is implemented by a group of professionals with different expertise, information sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration is necessary. In order to achieve a common goal of improving nutritional care, it is a requirement for each professional to share roles equally by going beyond individual professional frameworks.
