In recent years, community problems such as the mountainous location of a community and the aging of its inhabitants have been receiving more attention and effort to solve these problems. "Town revitalization" and "regional activity projects" are frequently carried out nationwide. However, these slogans are sometimes just used as nominal terms for getting access. In quite a few cases, when outsiders such as art directors and NPO staff are involved in such projects, perception gaps are created between the local people and the organizers. The fundamental question of "Who requires regional revitalization" is forgotten, and only the activities are processed. Organizations involved in these projects should have the same orientation and share information with each other so they can function as "two wheels". In this study, we chose the Miyano area as a study target, with Yamaguchi Prefectural University located nearby, and through communication with local residents and the development of local resources (specialty products, history, vegetation, etc.), we aimed to learn how to take advantage of their "location" in consideration with their climate and culture and based on practical activities, mainly with an aspect of designing.
