The purpose of this paper is to investigate the preparations made by Ube City and the Houtokukai for the visit of Crown Prince Hirohito in 1926 . Crown Prince Hirohito visited Yamaguchi Prefecture in May 1926 . Yamaguchi Prefecture had to make a success of this visit in order to restore its reputation after the damage caused by the "Toranomon Incident", which was an attempted assassination of the Crown Prince by an anarchist. The failed assassin, Nanba Daisuke, had come from Yamaguchi Prefecture. As one of the places on the Crown Prince’s itinerary, Ube City made thorough preparations for the visit. Hanada Nakanosuke and the Houtokukai were heavily involved in these reparations. This paper will explain how Ube City and the Houtokukai organized the preparations for the Crown Prince’s visit.
