A Study on “New Kimono” in the Magazine SUTAIRU edited by UNO Chiyo
Abstract
This paper examines articles, essays, and photographs on kimono found in the magazine SUTAIRU, and clarifies what exactly was the "new kimono" advocated by UNO Chiyo. The "new kimono" was created with her deep understanding of kimono and her unique sensibility that was not bound by conventional wisdom, and several prototypes were embodied in the magazine SUTAIRU.
