The purpose of this article is to research Li Qi's literature, especially to understand the features of his poems representing High Tang Literati. This article is divided into 4 parts. Part I endeavors to trace the history of verse representing Literati(including the poets themselves) from Xian Qin to Early Tang. Before the Tang dynasty, in general Literati is represented in Yuefu or Odes. The figure of Literati in these verses has a tendency to be a character or an image that everyone holds in common. When it comes to the Tang dynasty, in Early Tang the verse begins to represent Literati as a specific and concrete character.
