知的障害のある女性が「親になる」過程において必要とされる支援のあり方を明らかにすることを目的として、知的障害のある女性への育児支援に関する実態調査を行った。今回は、円滑な分娩がその後の育児にも好ましい影響を与えると考え、分娩に影響を与える妊娠期の要因に焦点をあてて調査した。調査対象は全国で通勤寮を持つ生活自立支援センター38カ所に対してアンケートを送付し、妊娠期や分娩期の実態とその支援について調査した。36ケースの該当者があり、知的障害の育児支援事業を展開している施設は全国に分散していた。
