 Psychological features of the children, moved to rural area from urban habitat to attend an rural-experience-program was studied. Using Birleson Depression Self-Rating Scale for Children and Self-Competence Scale for Children, it was shown that the proportion of children with low self-evaluation and high depressive tendency in the subject group was higher than the proportion formerly reported on the average children group. Developmental imbalance measured by WISC-Ⅲ was suggested to be one of the causal factors. Importance of understanding children from psychological and developmental viewpoint was discussed.
 都市部から農山村に移住して様々な生活体験をする山村留学に参加した子どもの心理的特性について検討した。Birleson自己記入式抑うつ評価尺度と児童用コンピテンス尺度を用い、対象とした山村留学生集団には、自己評価が低く抑うつ度が高い子どもが平均的なレベルより多く含まれることを示した。WISC‐Ⅲの結果から、背景に発達的な偏りがある可能性が示唆された。山村留学においても、心理・発達的視点を取り入れた子どもの理解が必要であると考えられた。
