The utilization of edible insects is one of the countermeasures against the global population explosion, food crisis, and environmental problems. However, the peculiar flavor of insect foodstuffs is a major obstacle to the widespread use of insect foods. Therefore, in order to reduce the adverse effects of insect foodstuffs on taste and smell, we prepared croissants with the addition of Gryllus bimaculatus powder or Locusta genus powder. These croissants could be further improved in terms of palatability by using secondary ingredients. Furthermore, with the aim of clarifying the characteristics of the flavor components of the insect ingredients, we analyzed the odor components and taste intensity, and were able to infer the factors that reduced the palatability of Locusta genus powder.

A questionnaire survey was administered to 40 students to examine the effects of short trainings that were given at this university for clinical instructors with emphasis on the basic fundamentals. The objective of these trainings is to “allow clinical instructors and faculty members with limited experience providing clinical instructions to understand the importance and methods of clinical instruction, as well as learn knowledge and techniques that can be quickly deployed, thereby heightening their desire and interest in providing clinical instructions.” The training consists of four one-hour lectures centered on “promoting student understanding,” which is one of the basic fundamentals of clinical instruction, to resolve any perplexities and difficulties experienced by the clinical instructors, as well as a 30-minute summary Q&A session. According to the survey results, roughly 80% of the respondents indicated that they “understood 80% or more of the contents,” and nearly all the respondents indicated that they “can leverage what they learned in their work,” and nearly 70% of those without teaching experience indicated that they “wish to become involved in education.” An analysis of the free descriptions from the respondents uncovered 71 codes across 6 categories for “things they newly learned,” and 73 codes across 6 categories for “things they wish to newly try.” These results showed that the training objective was achieved and a certain level of effect was observed.

An online questionnaire was administered to 172 people to clarify the influence of the act of supporting one’s favorites. The data revealed that approximately three-fourths of the respondents felt an improvement in subjective health and self-esteem after beginning to act to support their favorites. In addition, spending time or money on supporting one’s favorite had a great influence on subjective health and self-esteem. Our findings indicate that the act of supporting one’s favorites can enhance one’s well-being.

The follow is our three conclusions. First, even though the Prevention Law for Hansen disease at 1907 and 1931 have been regarded as a symbol of infringement of patient’s human rights, these Laws were not specified the term “segregation”, which made possible to survive patients with Hansen disease in Okinawa Island. These Laws had been included some relief measures. Second, we consider comparative research on Okinawan medical history of three infectious disease: Hansen disease, Tuberculosis, and Malaria. The following is common ground of three diseases, which came to the end after the Okinawan reversion at 1972, owing to “American medical benefits”. These diseases has each own medical conditions and social interests before Okinawan war. In general, Okinawan medical institution was very scarce at that time. In Okinawa society, people with Hansen disease and Tuberculosis were possible to be recuperation at home, because sanatorium for them had not been constructed. For only the people with Hansen disease, however, it was possible to recuperate at home until disclosing infection. From the viewpoint of social stigma, the people with Hansen disease was inferior to the people with Tuberculosis. The people who disclosed infection with Hansen disease had to usually run away from home, then lived at refugee’s camp in Okinawa. On other hand, socio－economical risk was immanent in Tuberculosis and Malaria, because their infection would decreased to the population of industrial workers. As especially toropical Malaria had high risk to die, many cultivate villages were broken at Iriomote Island. As Malaria prevented from exploitation and economy in Yaeyama, the Island people decided to introduce into the compulsory Medical policy for Malaria. This policy derived from medical practice in Taiwan. Though the Ya-eyama medical institution for Malaria was nearly finished, it was not possible to exterminate before Okinawan War. It was been increased infection with Tuberculosis at rural area in Okinawa Island. To the contrary, because of the number of inpatients with Tuberculosis had been amounted to ten thousand degree, it was not possible to construct the medical policy before Okinawan War. Compare Hansen disease with Tuberculosis and Malaria, the number of inpatients with Hansen disease was low score（about 1000 inpatients ）, and the social-economical risk was small. The construction of sanatorium for inpatients with Hansen disease was preceded to Tuberculosis. Third, in this research, our hypothesis schema《state - region – patient and home》was direct from the history of constructing processes of institution for public health. The political power of state is not direct to patient, but is mediate by region. It is important to construct the managing system of relationship between region and patient, because of the medical policy for infection is not functional without voluntarily corporation from regional institution and patient.

More than 30 years have passed since the Social Worker and Care Worker Act was enacted in 1987, which positioned social welfare officers as nationally qualified social workers, and as of the end of December 2022, there were 271,208 registered social workers. As stipulated in Article 2 of the Social Worker and Care Worker Act, social workers are professionals who, with their specialized knowledge and skills, provide "consultation" to persons eligible for assistance, "advice and guidance," "liaison and coordination" with welfare service providers and other professionals and persons concerned, and "other assistance.” In this study, five social workers from the Council of Social Welfare (in charge of projects to support the selfreliance of the needy) and the Community Comprehensive Support Center were surveyed for four weeks from February 7 to March 4, 2022, to investigate their work dynamics. The survey results indicate that social workers perform their professional duties as stipulated in the Act according to the functions and roles of their agencies. However, "outreach" and "community and organizational outreach," which are the goals of the "Consultation Assistance" section of the research presentations at the annual conference of the Japan Society of Social Workers, are being practiced but account for only a small percentage of the total work.We believe that further collaboration and information sharing with related organizations is needed to discover those in need of assistance. As for the other objective of "collaboration with various professions", it became clear that the respondents collaborated with health, medical, welfare-related organizations, government administrators, and welfare commissioners, as well as with probation officers and lawyers, etc., as required for the persons are assisted by each organization. Based on the above, we believe that by accumulating practices related to "outreach" and “community and organizational outreach", social workers will be able to fulfill the roles of responding to cross-system issues and supporting activities of local residents, as it was anticipated by the Special Committee for Securing Welfare Human Resources of the Welfare Subcommittee, Social Security Council of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare to work toward the realization of a "community-based society.”

The aim of this study is to examine the reliability and validity of the Competency Scale in Practice of Childhood Care for children with Disabilities (CSPCD). Moreover, this study examines the relationship between CPSCD and careers of nursery teachers. The results exhibited that CSPCD consisted of five sub-scales interest in childcare for children with disabilities necessary assessments in childcare for children with disabilities; the actual involvement in childcare for children with disabilities; collaboration with parents and other organizations in childcare for children with disabilities, and development of expertise in childcare. Our study finds that there is sufficient reliability and validity in this regard due to significant correlation between the score of interest in childcare for children with disabilities in CSPCD and the required number of years of experience for a childcare institution. Additionally, it was clarified that the total score of CSPCD and the scores of each sub-scale differed significantly depending on the teachers’ individual experiences in assisting children with disabilities.

Yamaguchi Prefectural University offers a "CG Training" course to help students acquire the knowledge and skills to use CG software. In addition, this university is involved in various initiatives with external organizations as part of a regional cooperation, and the "foster parent system" discussed in this report is one such initiative. This paper reports on the process of the "Foster Care System Awareness Poster" project.

Yamaguchi Prefectural University has clothing materials dating back to the days of Yamaguchi Women's Junior College and Yamaguchi Women's University in its collection as course materials. In this report, we present a women’s two-piece dress purchased at Mitsukoshi in 1960, out of more than 50 pieces of clothing materials, including dresses and jackets, for which the date of purchase and price are clear.

This article introduced the table of contents of the literary magazine " BOCHO BUNGAKU " and "YAMAGUCHIKEN BUNGAKU". These magazines were published in Yamaguchi City, Yamaguchi Prefecture from October1943 to September October 1945.

The author has been involved in the creation of clothing that incorporates the function of size adjustment as part of its design. At the same time, she has experimented with custom-made costumes and product development and sales of clothing and sundry goods. This paper discusses two of the author's creations, and examines the possibility of applying drawstring techniques and snap buttons for size adjustment. In addition, based on the relationship between the body and clothing found in the works of fashion designers, actual clothing sizes, and the size adjustment function of rental garments, the possibility of design using the size adjustment function of clothing is explored.

This article explored the international understanding activities of Yamaguchi Prefectural University’s students and citizens of Yamaguchi city. The author examined this activity of providing quality education through active learning perspective, which is attracting attention as a method for improving the capacity respond to unexpected incidents.These activities were planned and performed by Yamaguchi Prefectural University’s students. As this activity was executed through a seminar, it was convenient to schedule them and create the necessary teams. After every activity, improvement points were developed for each team members, focusing on the division of roles within the teams, their communication, and their cooperation in information sharing. Interactive learning practices were noticed as an aspect of the relationship between students and regional residents. The students and the residents, collaborated by sharing their experiences and proficiency in digital skills, which increased their cooperation through active learning.

This is an interim report on the background and implementation of the ongoing "Tego Project" activities by students in the Japanese and English teacher training programs. In the "Tego Project" activities, students in the Japanese Language Teacher Training Course and students in the Junior and Senior High School English Teacher Training Course (hereinafter referred to as "Language Supporters") will support students who need Japanese and English language instruction. In addition, to improve the support for these students, we will develop and test a curriculum for teaching Japanese and English through online learning. The goal is to build a "Japanese/English Start-up Learning Tego Site" and eventually disseminate the results of the project.

This paper investigates the development of critical thinking skills (CTS) through the discussion of topical social issues in a first-year English as a foreign language (EFL) course conducted online via Zoom. The classroom materials were designed to promote the development of intellectual traits identified by Paul and Elder (2001) as essential components of critical thinking (CT), including intellectual autonomy, intellectual empathy, and fair-mindedness. The classroom activities are in part intended to help first-year students acquire the thinking skills and thinking dispositions needed for subsequent participation in second and third-year Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) courses, which emphasize CTS and active group discussions. A survey was conducted at the end of the semester to collect student feedback about the classroom activities as well as their views on CT.

This paper proposes the creation of a “Cemetery” on the Internet in order to preserve information made by the deceased and no one is allowed to use the information or data about the deceased for a period of time . Many attempts have been made to deal with information of the deceased by using the expression “privacy of the deceased”. However, It is difficult to conceptualize the existence of the deceased according to the metaphysics of death. Therefore, it is argued that the “privacy of the deceased” can be reduced to “the violation of privacy of the people around someone who dies” of those who were related to or have a connection with the deceased. Since it has not been well argued what kind of information constitutes privacy for those who had a relationship with the deceased, this paper argues that it is safe and appropriate to keep the information of the deceased in the “Cemetery” where no one can touch it for the time being until there is more clarity regarding the concept of ” The violation of privacy of the people around someone who dies”.

The piece is a home-use step stool designed in consideration of the need for child safety. Step stools have been used in Japanese families since a long time ago for various purposes in daily living. Today, multipurpose stools such as foldable ones are commonly used. However, in terms of safety they have more dangerous parts than the conventional type. The concerns become particularly apparent whenever children use such stools. Therefore, to address such safety concerns we have designed a stool under the theme of a “child-friendly stool that ensures peace of mind for adults and guardians.”

This paper focuses on the Blue & Green Art Project, which has been implemented from 2020 to the present, in relation to the Agri-Art Festival, which was the premise of the project, and its activities on regional revitalization and development.The project focuses on symposiums and exhibitions of artworks, which are activities about regional revitalization and development by connecting the sea and land, while committing to the SDGs. In particular, the report discusses the works in the exhibition "A Journey of Fashion through the Sea," which was inspired by the symposium held in March 2022. For sustainable design, we will focus on the traditional Japanese clothing and dyeing and weaving techniques. The project focused on traditional Japanese clothing and dyeing techniques such as sakiori, tsuzure, saki-knitting, patchwork, and herb-dyeing for sustainable design. The project also included the upcycling of masks provided by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare before they were discarded, as well as oyster pipes and other flotsam collected from beach cleanups. A sakiori weaving workshop was also held to help visitors feel the environmental issues of the sea and land as their own problems. This paper examines articles, essays, and photographs on kimono found in the magazine SUTAIRU, and clarifies what exactly was the "new kimono" advocated by UNO Chiyo. The "new kimono" was created with her deep understanding of kimono and her unique sensibility that was not bound by conventional wisdom, and several prototypes were embodied in the magazine SUTAIRU.

This paper aims to clarify the characteristics of library glossaries in Japan by the 1920s. Library glossaries and literature discussing library terms were used as guides for the analysis. The primary results are as follows: (1) Authors of glossaries valued the translation of foreign terms. (2) In these glossaries, English terms were the most common, followed by German. (3) Several terms were related to bibliography or publishing. (4) Glossaries published in later years included numerous headwords from previous glossaries. (5) The translations were inconsistent.

Currently, medical institutions are not only pursuing technology, but are also practicing various attempts to provide safety and comfort in the environment, taking into consideration the emotional burden on patients and their families. Among these, "hospital art," which brings art into the medical field and actively utilizes the positive effects it can have on the viewer, is a representative activity. This paper describes the process of creating hospital art at Sanyo-onoda Municipal Hospital.

This paper reports on the content of the "Japanese Language Teaching Practicum" at Yamaguchi Prefectural University in the year of 2022. We also investigate how the trainees' "qualities and abilities required of Japanese language teachers [training]" (Japanese Language Subcommittee of the Council for Cultural Affairs, 2018) changed through the educational practice, and describe the trainees' growth and learning progress. Through this, we will verify the effectiveness of the Japanese language teaching practice at our university. In addition, based on the issues identified through this training, we discuss the design and management of future Japanese language education training at Yamaguchi Prefectural University.

Today, big data can be easily obtained in our daily lives. As a result, keywords such as data science and machine learning are no longer new. Universities, private companies, and government agencies have established departments and faculties related to data science, and various educational programs are being developed. The implementation of data science education for liberal arts at regional public universities is an urgent national issue to be identified and solutions to be proposed. Yamaguchi Prefectural University started a lecture course called Introduction to Data Science for all first-year students in FY2022 with the aim of acquiring data science backgrounds. In this paper, we examine the state of data science education for students in the humanities by using data on the submission status of assignments given to students in this course in FY 2022. The results showed the possibility of visualizing the degree of difficulty that students in the humanities, who are taking data science education for the first time, experience during data analysis exercises and the degree of their positive attitude toward the assignments.
