Kiyoo Nakamura used to be a student at Shoukason-juku academy (private school run by Shoin Yoshida), and then made a decision to major in physics and meteorology. He served as the director of the Central Meteorological Observatory (Japan Meteorological Agency in the present day) and devoted himself to establishing the modern meteorology. In addition, he was also known as one of the founders of the current Tokyo University of Science.Previous studies have neither clarified what motivated him to specialize in physics and meteorology nor how his life was influenced by what he learned at Shoukason-juku academy in his boyhood. Thus, this paper aims at delving into details of Kiyoo Nakamura to promote deeper understanding of his personality.
